“Living in the Newman House has been such an amazing experience! With multiple sitting rooms, study areas, and even a chapel, I feel so comfortable and at home . . . But my favorite part of the Newman House is the community. All the women are so kind and supportive, and I am so blessed to be growing in my faith in such a loving environment!”

- Anne Mager, Junior, Accounting and Music

Our Mission

The Newman House is a vibrant Catholic home for women attending the University of North Dakota. With a special focus on sisterhood, hospitality, and academic excellence, our goal is to be a place where women can connect, challenge each other, and grow together, forming friendships that will last a lifetime.

By living out this mission, the residents of the Newman House seek to become more authentic witnesses of the Gospel and to continually grow into the women they were made to be.

The Space

The Newman House was originally built in 1925 as a Delta Delta Delta Sorority House. When the national organization decided to close their UND chapter in 2006, discussions began about what would happen to the house. The Newman Center was able to purchase the house and all of its furnishings and spend a year remodeling and bringing the house up to code. The Newman House hosted its first residents in the 2008-2009 academic year and has been providing a unique Catholic living option to women at UND ever since. For more information or to schedule a tour, please contact our House Director at michaela.moriarty@undcatholic.org.

Life at the Newman House

“My favorite thing about the Newman House is the community of faithful women there. That’s the number one reason I chose to live in the House. I love being a part of an amazing group and having friends just next door whenever I want to hang out, or running into people in the kitchen when I go to grab a snack, or having spontaneous movie nights to relax on the weekends.”

- Sarah Budziszewski, Senior, Science Education
